The Adventures of Cairo

My family loves all kinds of adventures. From skiing to hiking to exploring new foods, cultures, and neighborhoods. Adventures can come in so many different ways.

Today, I want to share one unique way we explore new adventures.

We love to go on adventures through stories.

Lately, we’ve been loving Wondery’s The Adventures of Cairo podcast. It’s about a seven year old boy who loves to explore the world around him. As Cairo adventures around his city, he learns about important topics including money, kindness, integrity, and courage.

Since this podcast is told through a child’s first person experience, voice, and perspective, my kids absolutely love it and get excited every time they hear the theme song. They’ll even ask when we can listen to a new one. They feel so connected to Cairo.

Our favorite episode is when he needs to save money for a field trip to the aquarium. He learns so much about money, saving, and the value of working hard toward your goal.

We also love the representation of following the journey of a Black American family. Cairo looks so much like my sons, and they notice. Ali said, “He looks just like me!”

The Adventures of Cairo is perfect for all children and is a great podcast for families to listen to together. We love talking about the different themes and character traits introduced in every episode.
