The Best Beach Vibes in Colorado

Well, maybe beach-like spots.

We moved to Colorado in the Fall of 2019.

We’ve heard summers in Colorado are amazing. But before moving here, obviously we assumed winter was Colorado’s time to shine because of the abundance of mountains and ski resorts.

We were excited to experience our first full Colorado summer in 2020, but covid hit, and everything shut down. So 2021 is really our first real summer in Colorado.

One thing I keep saying is, if only Colorado had a beach. I love the ocean, and would live at the beach if I lived close to one.

Well, little did we know, Colorado has several manmade spaces that give a beachy feel so close to the city. We love exploring them! I still love the ocean, but these areas are so fun and beautiful, they give me a beach fix not far from home.

This photo was taken at Confluence Park in Denver, Colorado.

Here are a few of our favorites:

☀️ Confluence State Park

This is where the pic above was taken. We walked into this park by accident and absolutely fell in love. As you can see by my daughter’s outfit, we weren’t even dressed for a beachy experience. We love this park when we’re in Denver. It’s so magical to have a space like this in the middle of the city. You can see bridges, buildings, and mountains so the view is so beautiful. It gives beachy in the city vibes and has shallow water the kids can play in. It is a urban park so be prepared for…well, city. 😆 There are also trails throughout the park you can bike and walk. We usually can find parking. Although it’s a little harder on the weekends. The best part is this park is free.

☀️Cherry Creek Reservoir in Cherry Creek State Park.

The kids loved this area. We went here to do a photo shoot and fell in love. This park is large and we haven’t even come close to exploring the whole thing. This park is beautiful. It was nice watching the boats out on the water. The beach area very much feels like a beach with sand and the boats even created some waves. Haha! There were a lot fo kids there when we went so the kids really enjoyed meeting new friends. There was even a wholesome crowd there when the sun went down so we stayed later than we usually would have. The kids loved hanging on the beach at night. There were quite a few gnats when we would use our phones as they were attracted to the light. There is a small fee to get inside. The cost is $11 per car.

☀️ Boulder Reservoir

If you’re looking for beach vibes on the north side of Denver, check this one out. We love this one. It gives beach vibes with amazing Mountain View’s in the distance. Every time we go we feel like we’ve traveled somewhere new. During the summer (May 28-Sept 6), they charge per person. $11 for adults, $6.50 per child 3-18. A family of 4 can pay $29.

☀️ Boyd Lake State Park

We haven’t been to this one yet but it’s on our list! We’ve heard great things about it. The Daily Vehicle Pass is $10. It’s suppose to be a great spot for water sports. We’ll let you know once we’ve explored it.
